Mountain Flight Over Himalayan Glaciers

Updated: Apr 7, 2019

We have embarked to unveil the mystery and beauty that has surrounded which we were curious about for many years. It was an adrenaline pumping experience to visit and wintness the beautiful Himalayas of Nepal, including Mt. Everest. The plane departs from Kathmandu and flies alongside the Himalayas to give you eye-level views of snow-capped peaks before brining you back in just one hour.

We have took Buddha Air Lines; there are several airlines companies operate daily Mount Everest flight (Mountain flight) from Kathmandu airport if weather permitted.

Our flight was about to get cancelled due to weather. That day there was very heavy rain, but they asked us to wait to see if the rain cleared as well as to to get weather reports from the mountains. After an hour wait the airlines got the clearance to board the passengers.

The aircrafts have large and clear windows and provide superlative sights of the Great Himalayan Range. The aircraft flies an altitude of between 20,000 to 25,000 ft. and shows you the Himalayan Range like never before. I felt like I was on the lap of the Himalayan range and astonished by it's unspeakable beauty.

This is the quickest way to get a close look at Mt. Everest, the highest mountains in the world. Other mountains that can be viewed at close range are Nuptse (7879 M), Lhotse (8501 M), Cho Oyu (8000M), Makalu (8475 M) and Kanchenjunga (8584 M).

As the plane moved along, the mountains come closer and closer. Next on the list was Choba-Bhamare, the smallest one of the lot at 5,933 m but singularly stubborn as it has never been climbed. Then appears the mountain that is not only prominent in sight but also in spiritually – Gauri-Shankar. Lord Shiva and his consort Gauri are said to protect this mountain, at the proud height of 7,134 m and the summit had a history of unsuccessful attempts till 1979. Gauri-Shankar is sharp and very conspicuous during the mountain flight.

The mountains are at eye level for your maximum viewing pleasure. The flight crew was pointing g out the peaks for us and all of us got an opportunity to visit the cockpit to enjoy the great view of Mt.Everest through the aircraft's front windows. This was closest view of Mt.Everest that you'll ever see unless you decide to take up mountaineering.

The crew provides you with excellent opportunities to photograph the mountain and keep your memories fresh forever. Sharper and clearer vision of the Himalayan Range is where your money is best spent.

Mountain flight is suitable for all categories of traveler. For those who are restricted by time from going trekking can get panoramic view of the Himalayas in just an hour.

Much has already been written about Everest, but to actually witness it face to face during a mountain flight is something else. Even while it looms therein front of the eyes, it remains and enigma, this highest spot on earth.
